Managing Director of the Iran Blockchain Association: Chinese miners have requested to extract cryptocurrency in the Iranian Free Zone

According to PressTV, the Chinese cryptocurrency miners have officially requested mining operations in the Iranian Free Zone. Mohammad Sharqi, managing director of the non-profit organization Iran Blockchain Association, said that he had already had preliminary discussions with Chinese miners on their plans in Iran. Sharqi said, "Chinese miners have already requested through official channels to mine cryptocurrencies in the free zone." Sharqi believes that the Iranian Ministry of Energy is best to regulate digital currency mining by issuing industrial and commercial electricity licenses. On Saturday, Iran’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi, acknowledged that the Chinese are interested in developing the Iranian cryptocurrency market. Sharqi said, “If foreign investors have demand in this area, the Department of Energy can take advantage of this and welcome them to develop infrastructure and generate electricity.”
