Ugandan government will use blockchain technology to deal with counterfeit drugs in the country

Recently, Uganda President Yoweri Musevini said that the country will explore a blockchain solution to deal with counterfeit drugs in the country's pharmaceutical industry. Previously, Musvini met with Uebert Angel, a partner of the UK blockchain platform MediConnect, and other government officials in Kampala. MediConnect said the Ugandan government is committed to supporting the use of its blockchain solution to use distributed ledger technology to track drugs in the supply chain. It is reported that Uganda National Drug Administration data shows that 10% of the prescription drugs sold in the country are unqualified or counterfeit drugs.
