EU Parliament Report: Digital currency issued by the central bank will reshape the competitive landscape of the encryption market

The European Parliament's Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) recently released a study on the competition of financial technology. The report pointed out that the digital currency issued by the central bank (CBDC) may be a "remedy" for the lack of competition in the encryption industry. CBDC will reshape the current competitive landscape of the cryptocurrency market by increasing its competitors. There is a difference between the digital currency issued by the central bank and the private digital currency. The former is based on the conventional bilateral settlement with the trusted central party.
