The US Department of Justice's (DOJ) Federal Office of the Southern District of the United States has filed two allegations against Jon Barry Thompson, head of the Bitcoin hosting company Volatnis Escrow Platform LLC, one for commodity fraud and the other for telecommunications fraud. In a lawsuit filed on Thursday, he was accused of misleading statements about investment risks and made false statements about his custody and control of digital assets. Thompson was arrested in Pennsylvania on Thursday, facing a maximum of 40 years in prison.
