The Indonesian central bank has held talks with Facebook and it is not certain whether Libra will operate in the country.

According to the Jakarta Post, Bank Indonesia had talks with several Facebook executives last week, allowing the tech giant to explain its cryptocurrency, Libra, because the Indonesian central bank has now banned the use of cryptocurrencies for payments. Erwin Haryono, head of payment system policy at the Bank of Indonesia, said at a recent event that Facebook is not planning to obtain a license for the Libra project in the near future. Erwin said: "We want to know what they are doing. So far, they are not sure if they will do business in Indonesia."
