Source: UK tax authorities seek customer data from cryptocurrency exchanges such as Coinbase to recover taxes

According to CoinDesk, sources said that the UK tax authority, HM Revenue Customs, is putting pressure on cryptocurrency exchanges to disclose customer names and transaction history in order to recover unpaid taxes. According to sources, at least three exchanges operating in the UK (Coinbase, eToro and CEX) received letters last week requesting customer lists and transaction data. As of press time, all three companies declined to comment.
