The government of Maharashtra, India plans to implement blockchain technology and will set up a regulatory sandbox

On August 19th, the government of Maharashtra, India, developed a plan to improve the quality of services by implementing blockchain technology in agricultural marketing, supply chain, vehicle registration and document management systems. The Information Technology Bureau of Maharashtra will be the core institution of implementation. The Maharashtra government has approved and issued a notice on the use of blockchain technology two days ago. The government has set aside Rs 100 crore for 2019-2020, of which the project executive committee has approved Rs 40 million for blockchain technology. In addition, a regulatory sandbox will be ready in the next five to six months, which will be a common framework for blockchain technology.
