Nomura Holdings and Nomura Research Institute announce the establishment of a new joint venture that will use blockchain technology to develop a securities trading platform

On September 2, Nomura Holdings and Nomura Research Institute announced that they have established a new joint venture called BOOSTRY Co., Ltd. The new company will use blockchain technology to develop platforms such as securities trading. Nomura Holdings will own 66% of the new entity, while NRI will hold 34% of the shares. The capital of the newly established business will be 1.175 billion yen (including capital reserves). Regarding the reasons for the establishment of BOOSTRY, the two companies explained that in the past few years, various industries have been exploring the use of blockchain technology to provide services. In the financial services sector, the focus is on how to use this technology in areas such as settlement and securities trading.
