British hacker arrested for stealing unreleased songs from record artists and selling them for cryptocurrency

According to the City of London Police, a British hacker suspect was arrested for allegedly illegally accessing world-renowned record artist websites and cloud-based accounts, stealing unreleased songs, and selling stolen music in exchange for cryptocurrencies. On the Day of Personal Coordination Action against illegally acquired music, the London City Police Intelligence Crime Group conducted a search of a property in northern London and a property in Ipswich. In Ipswich, a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of copyright and computer abuse. The Manhattan District Attorney's Office began investigating the case after receiving a referral from the recording artist management company. They confirmed one of the potential perpetrators living in the UK and helped complete the arrest through a formal partnership with the City of London police.
