A new study finds that the public is curious about the possibilities offered by cryptocurrencies, but cash is likely to continue to dominate in the foreseeable future, as most consumers want to continue using cash. According to a survey by ING, only 20% of Britons want cash to no longer exist. The survey also found that many members of the public are still confused about the exact way in which cryptocurrencies operate. Although 69% of the 15,000 adults surveyed know that cryptocurrency is a form of digital currency, most people either (wrongly) believe that cryptocurrencies are controlled by central agencies or that they do not know. The study also showed that UK respondents had significant differences in attitudes toward cryptocurrencies.
