The brain hole of the blockchain is wide open: three-body, KK and interstellar hegemony

Ma Yun once said: "Many people haven't figured out what is the PC Internet. The mobile Internet is coming. We haven't figured out the mobile Internet. The big data era is coming again." Now, can we add a sentence later? "People haven't figured out what big data is, the blockchain is coming again"? William Gibson once said: "The future has happened, but it is not yet popular." I believe that the blockchain can lead the field of computers and the Internet in the next 5-10 years. We have vaguely heard the future not far away, and the blockchain has revolutionized. The wind and thunder.

In this case, why don't we think about the far-away future, open our brains, and stand on the sci-fi perspective to imagine the future application of the blockchain.

Nowadays, many people regard the blockchain as an excellent mechanism to solve the problem of trust. The title of the Economist article refers to the blockchain as the "machine of trust." Indeed, the various characteristics of the blockchain can build trust, but in addition, we can also consider the blockchain as a large-scale collaboration tool. Through this collaboration tool, you can make a lot of things that you couldn't imagine.

In the simplest case, the use of blockchains in the financial sector can make bank settlement, financial auditing, cross-border payments and other aspects easier and faster, and strengthen the ability to collaborate in the financial sector. Therefore, major financial institutions are entering the blockchain and stepping up the application of the blockchain in the financial sector. There are many other aspects, such as the Internet of Things, decentralized communities, and so on. The blockchain's attempts in these areas are all aimed at improving the ability of people to collaborate.

Our vision is long-term, and through the reward feedback mechanism and smart contracts, the blockchain can also provide an unprecedented global collaborative community for scientific research.

There are many scientific research projects that use a "@home project" model in which PC users can contribute idle processor power to help solve scientific problems. PCs have almost never used their full capabilities. Distributed computing is the use of this idle capacity to divide large tasks into smaller tasks and distribute them to the usually idle computers through the Internet. A large number of computers participate at the same time, and the processing power can exceed the strongest non-parallel supercomputers. Among the famous projects are SETI@home (searching for extraterrestrial civilization at home) and Einstein@Home (Einstein at your home to prove the existence of gravitational waves). The host platforms of these two projects are Berkeley open network computing platform. (BOINC), the current mainstream distributed computing platform.

We all know that Bitcoin has a mining mechanism that rewards Bitcoin for nodes that first calculate a specific hash value. This is a good reward feedback mechanism. A smart contract is a contract that replaces the legal language with a computer language to record the terms. Simply put, the currency can be programmed and transferred or used only if certain conditions are met. Both of these mechanisms can promote public participation in scientific research, solve problems, and receive rewards. It is as simple as that.

Using blockchains, researchers can not only bring together huge computing power, but also coordinate all kinds of other required resources to coordinate and collaborate, and participate in the entire collaboration through pre-set rules. People, institutions, and even equipment in the system rewards to promote a more rational allocation of resources and attract more resources to participate in the system.

Then we will spread our minds. If we can use the blockchain to integrate the idle computing power and resources of all human beings, can we use the blockchain to integrate the thinking and wisdom of the majority and raise the collective decision-making to a higher level? What about the level? From here on, it is the real brain hole.

This idea was inspired by Dr. Han Feng of Tsinghua University. His speech in January 2016 "Cloud Decision CloudMind: Can the blockchain make the Earth people become triathletes? As mentioned in the article, using the blockchain distributed justice system, coupled with brain-computer interface and other technologies, human beings can have a transparent and fair decision-making system like the three-body in science fiction "Three-body" – cloud decision-making (in the novel) Three people will not deceive, and technology is highly developed). His ideas are very novel and look to the future. If you can achieve great progress in human civilization, friends who are interested can find it.

On this basis, I also carried out more in-depth thinking, and two questions have arisen for Dr. Han Feng's idea: Is it necessary? What is the impact of this optimization?

The key to the first necessity is efficiency . If other simple methods can achieve the same effect, do you still need to use such a complicated method to achieve? The brain-computer interface mentioned in the speech is still far away from us, in fact, just use the blockchain. For example, this year, the Texas Liberal Party used blockchain technology to store campaign results, making voting more open and transparent, which led to transparent and fair collective decision-making.

The second question is the impact . What happens if it is truly transparent and fair as a trio? There is no intention to judge whether good or bad, but if it is realized, some things can be foreseen: full transparency brings about the complete disclosure of privacy, and personal thinking is no longer independent and subject to external influences. This will have an impact on human creativity, the diversity and uniqueness of ideology and culture. In addition, if the unified decision-making of all mankind is successfully achieved, this group of human beings is likely to evolve into a similar ant colony, a form of bee colony, a high division of labor, and a centralized system.

When it comes to bee colony, I have to mention the famous "Prophecy Emperor" Kevin Kelly (KK). KK himself strongly supports decentralization, distributed thinking, distributed management, and parallel distributed systems, as evidenced by various prophecies in his classic book, Out of Control. KK mentioned the group thinking and cluster consciousness in "Out of Control". He has raised bees himself, and when the bees are together, there are many behaviors that a single bee does not have. For example, the lifespan of each bee is only 6 weeks, but the collective memory of the hive is much longer; the worker bees report the detection results to the bee colony through dance, indicating that a certain place is very good, attracting more worker bees to investigate, gradually The way of snowballing formed a large group dance, which determined the whereabouts of the bee colony.

Through the case of bee colony, KK elaborates on bee colony thinking: the consciousness of the bee colony is limited, the information conveyed is simple, but the wisdom emerging after the cluster is far beyond the limits of the individual, this is not a The result of 2+2>4, but a 2+2=Apple's transcendence. Evolution tends to increase in quantity, quality change through quantity change, wisdom and wisdom, and wisdom emerges from the group.

The distributed thinking of bee colonies brings collective wisdom: the decisions made by a single individual tend to be inaccurate compared to the decision of the majority decision. Collective intelligence is a shared or group intelligence, and the opinions of the crowd are further A process of turning into decision making. Such a decision-making mechanism coincides with what we want to achieve. We can try to explore the possibility of connecting human thinking and emotions through the blockchain to develop deeper cluster consciousness and collective wisdom.

In fact, regarding the realization of a higher level of cluster awareness, the scene in which everyone's minds are connected to each other has a better sci-fi description than the "three-body" and bee colony – the game "StarCraft."

Friends who have played StarCraft should have an impression of the long scorpion behind the Protoss (Protoss). This is not a decoration, but an organ of the Protoss – "Neuro Cable."

The Protoss civilization was founded on the basis of Khala, a mysterious and sacred field that connects the thoughts and emotions of the Protoss. The Protoss of the Protoss kept their connection with Kara, and the medium of contact was the long scorpion behind them – the nerve cord. Through Kara, the Protoss people can share their thoughts, telepathy, and instantly exchange ideas and emotions, and be able to upload them.

In addition, for an ancient high-class civilized race such as the Protoss, their developed technology cannot be separated from the preservation, management, and even sharing of knowledge for a long time. And Kara has done a good job in the library of the Protoss civilization and the role of the college, so that a small number of Protoss people can unite and be strong. There is also a mysterious career "preservator" in this library. When every Protoss connected to Kara died, the savers can collect all their memories. When it is necessary to review the past, the saver can recall the memory of the witnesses in each piece of history to ensure a complete and detailed restoration of the history. Of course, strictly speaking, even if you are a historical witness, you can't understand all the truths about the events you have experienced. But the savers will recall the memories of multiple witnesses in order to get the most comprehensive information.

As the spiritual network of the Protoss, Kara has built a system that can synchronize thinking, emotional sharing, and storage. It seems that it is impossible to realize with our current technology, but in fact, science fiction is really naive to history. It can be realized by human beings in time. If it can be realized, we can try to create a blockchain that transmits and stores emotions and memories, establish a historical record of human civilization, and reorganize big data to build new collective wisdom through cross-matching of various memories.

At first glance, the blockchain has nothing to do with Kara, but think carefully, the nature of the blockchain and the characteristics of Cara have many corresponding places. We first list the main characteristics of the blockchain: decentralization, de-intermediation, non-tampering, traceability, security, etc. In addition, the private chain also includes the characteristics of authority control.

Next, let's look at the correspondence between each feature and the fantasy point of the StarCraft:

1. Decentralization : Everyone who has thoughts, emotions, memories and experiences is a discrete person. To form a wide range of ideological and emotional interactions, we must organize them in a decentralized or multi-centered mode, because interactions happen all the time between independent individuals, and the content is emotional and Thinking, like the use of centralized enterprise management, like QQ, will certainly be overwhelmed, and the decentralized blockchain can simultaneously handle a large number of peer-to-peer interactions.

In a traditional centralized network, an effective attack on a central node can destroy the entire system. In a decentralized network such as a blockchain, attacking a single node cannot control or destroy the entire network. The % node is just the beginning of control.

In addition, each person's memory cannot be stored in a centralized database, and must be stored in a distributed database, so that these distributed databases can be organized in the form of blockchains.

2, de-intermediation: If you can achieve the effect of Kara, the entire human being is basically shared memory, then the transmission of thinking, feelings obviously no longer need to use social networks, news media and other intermediary transmission. Peer-to-peer interactions with the help of blockchains are possible.

3, can not be falsified: on the objectivity of history, it can be said: "History is written by the winner", historical events are objective, but the record of history is subjective, any historical narrative has traces of ideological influence, and It is easily affected by tampering and deletion.

The blockchain is incapable of modification, and the blockchain adopts a one-way hashing algorithm. At the same time, each newly generated block is promoted strictly in the order of timeline, and the irreversibility of time leads to any attempt to invade the data information in the chain of the tamper block. Behavior is easily traced back, leading to rejection by other nodes, thus limiting the generation and implementation of related illegal activities.

The storage of memory is recorded in the blockchain, which avoids some people deliberately discrediting and obliterating a certain history because of politics and interests. In this way, when reviewing a certain history, it will not be misinterpreted because of the tampering and deletion of the data.

4. Traceability: In addition to preventing loss and tampering, it is also convenient to implement backtracking search for the management of a large number of upload memories. The blockchain is a database based on timestamps. The addition of a block (complete history) to the chain (complete verification) forms a timestamp (a traceable full history). The timestamp stores all transaction history executed in the network, provides retrieval and search functions for each data, and can be traced back to the source by means of a blockchain structure.

The traceability of the blockchain can help people looking for past experiences and memories to easily find the content they need, easy to search, learn, and can be applied to historical research, skill experience, case detection and so on.

5. Permission control of the private chain: Not everyone needs permission to find past memories. In the setting of StarCraft, only the saver can completely store and read all the knowledge. In addition, Kara is not completely private-free, and uploaders can selectively share information.

The private chain is written in the hands of only one organization compared to the public chain, and read permissions may be restricted. Using the private chain, you can connect the nodes that are allowed to access, grant permissions to the use of the memory blockchain, and monitor the risks.

To our surprise, the blockchain can largely correspond to the characteristics of Carla in the StarCraft. I think this is determined by the characteristics of the blockchain. As mentioned at the beginning of this article, the blockchain can be regarded as a large-scale collaborative tool. Even if it is a co-ordinated conception of humanity, the human mind is integrated, and the blockchain has its use.

Does the “Universal Library” make sense through the memory reconstruction realized by the blockchain? KK gave new prophecies in his new book, Necessity. He mentioned two words: screen reading and remixing.

Regarding screen reading, KK envisioned a universal library. All works in human history have been digitized and stored on a 50PB hard disk. We can read them in a readable manner. Due to the links and labels, it is possible to read the universal library and it is powerful. Once the link is added, the texts are no longer independent, and we can jump freely between books based on indexes and links.

It is further envisaged that when the content is infinitely more, the screening becomes more valuable, and we can form a new authority by forming a recommendation combination of special topics. Because of the interconnectedness and mobility, the long tail part of the work will also increase the audience.

In addition to the above, when combined with other high-tech, it can release more powerful energy. For example, when you read through a wearable device, you can see anything written in any book, language, or time about the place, and you will have a strong interaction with the universal book. It is entirely conceivable that future reading will be filled with the space in our lives, and we will have a harmonious interaction with everything that seems to be cold.

Regarding remixing, KK talks about:

The new product does not necessarily stem from the discovery of new resources, but may be a remix of old things. The hive thinking products brought about by the remixing can provide details of various angles, so we can remix the full version of the scene.

The “retrievable” and “replayable” changes that are taking place in the media allow us to return, appreciate, share, and recreate. The use of existing copyrighted material does not necessarily fully adapt to existing intellectual property laws, but there is no doubt that restructuring is the only source of power for innovation and wealth.

Going back to see the previous article on the realization of Carla's imagination with the blockchain, it seems that it is not so far away.

The brain hole has opened a lot, and some people think that it is an idiotic dream, but I believe that the future of the blockchain, if given to the two celebrities of the skeptics, is also expected to share with the kings:

The real world is limited, and the imaginary world is endless. – Rousseau

Imagination is depth. No mental function is more self-deepening than imagination, and it can penetrate deep into the object. This is a great diver. When science reached the final stage, it met with imagination. – Hugo
