A hacker allegedly stole $1.4 million in encrypted assets, or faced 60 years in prison and over $2 million in fines

A hacker named Anthony Tyler Nashatka was sued for allegedly attacking a cryptocurrency exchange and stealing $1.4 million worth of crypto assets. US Attorney General David L. Anderson said the defendant Nashatka was accused of conspiring to commit computer fraud and abuse, conspiracy to commit telecommunication fraud, and serious identity theft in a federal court in San Francisco on Thursday. Nashatka has been subpoenaed and released on bail and is currently awaiting further hearing. If all charges are convicted, he will face federal imprisonment for nearly 60 years and a fine and compensation of over $2 million.
