Professor of Finance at Boğazici University, Turkey: 70% of central banks are currently working on central bank digital currency research

On October 19th, at the Eurasia Blockchain Summit, a professor of finance at Boğazici University said that according to a survey of 63 central banks by the Bank for International Settlements in 2018, 70% of central banks are engaged in CBDC research and proof-of-concept work. The emergence of new technologies can solve many of the shortcomings of the current financial system. He also said that the growth of digital currency trading and Facebook's recent Libra plan have also led central banks to take a more serious approach to the issue of digital currency.
