Central Bank of the Bahamas considers introducing the central bank digital currency to the Abaco Islands as soon as possible

John Rolle, president of the Central Bank of the Bahamas (CBOB), said recently that the bank is considering introducing the Bahamas' first digital currency to the Abaco Islands as soon as possible, which could speed up the economic recovery in the region that had just suffered a hurricane. It is reported that the country's legal digital currency will be accessed through a smartphone app in the form of a digital wallet. The Odaily Planet Daily previously reported that as the Bahamian government fully integrated blockchain applications and financial technology into the financial services sector, CBOB is constantly adjusting its payment structure to issue the Bahamas' first legal digital currency, Project Sand Dollar.
