The Bank of Canada recently released an annual comprehensive survey of Bitcoins based on monitoring the extent and trends of the use of Bitcoin and other cryptographic assets. According to the report, between 2016 and 2018, the proportion of Bitcoin in the Canadian population increased from 62% to 89%. The level of financial knowledge of Canadian Bitcoin holders may be lower than the overall population. The report found that 38% of Bitcoin holders have a lower level of financial knowledge, compared with 27% of the total population. The report also noted that the survey will help the Bank of Canada better understand the potential impact of Bitcoin on its core functions.
