Charles Schwab will acquire securities giant TD Ameritrade for US$26 billion

According to The Block today, brokerage giant Charles Schwab will acquire another US securities giant TD Ameritrade for $26 billion. The combined entity will manage more than $5 trillion in customer assets and serve 24 million customer accounts. "We are committed to breaking down barriers for investors and consultants through low cost, quality service and technology," said Walt Bettinger, CEO of Charles Schwab. TD Ameritrade offers bitcoin futures trading through the derivatives trading company CME Group. The company is also an investor in the cryptocurrency derivatives exchange ErisX.
