The cryptocurrency California SIM hijacking case, Joel Ortiz, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, allegedly the first time the country was arrested and convicted of “swapping a SIM card” on the charge of a victim’s smartphone, stealing millions of dollars Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Joel Ortiz was sentenced to eight counts of identity theft and computer crime last Friday (April 19) after he had no objections in January.
