Hackers hacked into 110 US nursing home systems, extorted $ 14 million in BTC

Hackers recently attacked computers in 110 nursing homes across the United States and asked for $ 14 million worth of bitcoin to unlock the system. In an interview with KrebsOnSecurity, Wisconsin-based IT company Virtual Care Provider Inc. (VCPI) confirmed that hackers used Ryuk ransomware to encrypt all the data it hosts for customers. The company estimates that it maintains approximately 80,000 computers and servers in 45 U.S. states to serve medical facilities.
