Professor of Kyoto University: Research on blockchain can help deal with the huge changes brought by emerging technologies

Kyoto University Professor Nao Iwata is currently leading Kyoto University to implement Ripple's University Blockchain Research Program (UBRI). Nao Iwata believes that traditional institutions are undergoing tremendous changes brought about by emerging technologies, and this instability requires people and institutions with overlapping expertise to transform them into positive changes. Research on blockchain can drive this evolution because it forces people to study related fields such as economics, business, and law. In addition, students can be forced to think about education differently and use their knowledge of the blockchain to solve larger problems such as climate change or global refugee issues.
