According to Decrypt, SpaceChain has sent its blockchain hardware wallet technology to the International Space Station via the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. As part of the CRS-19 commercial resupply service mission, the technology is being deployed to the space station, which is the first demonstration of blockchain hardware on the International Space Station. The blockchain wallet will be installed on Nanoracks' commercial platform on the space station. Once activated, it will demonstrate the receipt, authorization and retransmission of blockchain transactions. This is the company's third payload deployment in space. Earlier this year, SpaceChain received funding from the European Space Agency (ESA) as part of its launch event plan to further develop its satellite blockchain technology. This technology is designed to protect the transmission of digital assets hosted on centralized ground servers, which are often vulnerable to cyber attacks. SpaceChain is expected to complete testing of its latest deployment in early 2020.
