According to Zero One Financial Analyst Ren Wansheng's "China Blockchain Authorized Patent Ranking List", after analyzing and cleaning the public data of the China Intellectual Property Office and the World Intellectual Property Office, it is concluded that as of October 2019, China's cumulative number of blockchain patent applications reached 1.29 10,000 patents and 480 patents were authorized, and the authorization rate is 4.48%, which is far lower than technologies such as AI and big data. From 2016 to October 2019, the total number of blockchain patent applications in China increased from 745 to 12,909, and the number increased to 17.33 times. The number of authorized blockchain patents has increased from 102 to 480, and the number has increased by 4.7 times. Due to the large increase in the number of applications, the blockchain patent grant rate dropped from 18.09% to 4.48%. From the perspective of the current authorized volume, the Internet giants occupying the top of the application volume do not have the advantage. Ren Wansheng believes that the relevant reviewers lack sufficient standard evidence, and therefore rely more on the mastery of relevant technologies and whether the relevant experience meets the requirements of the Patent Law.
