Hackers attack data centers of local government documents in Argentina, destroying data for nearly a decade

According to TNW, hackers recently attacked a data center in a local government document in Argentina. The country's Minister of Science and Technology Alicia Bañuelos said the attack occurred on November 25. In an interview on December 2, Bañuelos said that the center had recovered 90% of the encrypted data. The attack initially destroyed about 7,700 GB of data (about 10 years of data). Bañuelos added, "It takes at least 15 days to decrypt the file, mainly due to the sheer size of the file." The amount of bitcoin ransom is unknown, but reports indicate that the demands made by the attackers ranged from approximately $ 37,000 to $ 370,000 (0.5 to 50 BTC).
