California State House Majority Leader Ian Calderon spoke at the Elev8CON conference in Las Vegas on December 10, discussing plans to bring greater legal certainty to the blockchain in California. Calderon said the government has a huge role to play in the future of the blockchain industry. Earlier on February 15, 2018, Calderon introduced the "Act 2658" to provide legal protection for the use of blockchain technology. At the same time, the bill established a working group under the California Government Operations Agency (GovOps) and is expected to issue a detailed report to the California legislature next year. Calderon said the working group is working on legislation to establish best practices, practices, and regulations for blockchain in California. They plan to prepare a report and make it available to state legislatures to develop policies on blockchain. The report was originally scheduled for release on July 1, 2020, but Calderon mentioned that it plans to propose a policy by the end of January next year that outlines the working group's activities.
