Singapore Police: Be wary of posing as a scam for Chinese officials to ask residents to make bitcoin transfers

According to the Straits Times, the Singapore police issued a warning on April 27 that some people pretend to be Chinese officials and asked the victims to use Bitcoin ATM to transfer money. On April 18, the police discovered a vandalism case at the Tampines One shopping center. A 45-year-old man who was investigated by the police revealed that he had received a call from a Chinese official. “The so-called Chinese official claimed that the man was under investigation for transnational crimes. The man was told to use the Bitcoin ATM of Tampines One twice to transfer a total of $1,000 to his account. The police are continuing to investigate the case.
