CFTC Chairman: XRP can be classified as a security by the SEC

US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Heath Tarbert said in a recent interview that XRP, the third largest cryptocurrency, can be classified as a security by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). However, it is unclear at this time that tokens can still be considered a commodity and therefore fall within the purview of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. At the same time, Tarbert emphasized that Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) are the only digital assets under the jurisdiction of the CFTC. The regulator allows the futures market to develop, and investors have the opportunity to securely purchase two digital assets identified as commodities.
