Blockchain as a service (BaaS) in Indian government services will be enhanced through the Blockchain Technology Center of Excellence (CoE)

The Blockchain Technology Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bangalore, India will focus on building a strong infrastructure to provide blockchain as a service (BaaS). TM Vijay Bhaskar, Chief Secretary of Karnataka, India, launched CoE to help government agencies build proof-of-concepts using blockchain technology on different governance dimensions, leading to the large-scale deployment of some of these applications. The National Information Center (NIC) will provide effective blockchain network hosting. CoE has developed a blockchain-based proof of concept (PoC) for specific government use cases to understand the potential benefits of this emerging technology. It is expected that new applications of blockchain in government and previously unpredictable applications will improve the transparency, traceability and trust of e-government systems.
