Blockchain is currently the technology that people are most concerned about. In the field of blockchain, Hyperledger super ledger is undoubtedly one of the outstanding alliance chain representatives.

As an open source collaboration supported by the open source organization Linux Foundation, it aims to promote the development of cross-industry blockchain technology, and is an open source collaboration project jointly promoted by global developers and enterprises in the fields of finance, technology, supply chain, medical and other fields. For more than a few years, the super ledger has achieved great results in many fields.

A few days ago, regarding the implementation of the super ledger, what important results have been achieved in the world's blockchain field in 2019? The value of the integration and development of public and alliance chains, China's advantages and disadvantages in open source, etc., a reporter from "Daily Economic News" (hereinafter referred to as "NBD") interviewed the executive director, head of the super ledger, and one of the founders of the World Wide Web Brian Behlendorf.

NBD: What are the typical landing cases of hyperledgers?

Brian Berendorf: Blockchain technology is immutable. If there is a group of institutions or companies and everyone has a common need to ensure that the data cannot be tampered with, then blockchain technology can be used. In the case of landing, the two biggest directions are supply chain management and trade finance. Although we have also seen different types of applications, these two directions are the most successful.

According to the reporter's understanding, in the aspect of supply chain management, international super-ledger technology has been used in diamond supply chains and tantalum ore tracking in Rwanda. In China, Inspur Group has established a "quality chain" supply chain management system using super-ledger technology to provide it to different manufacturers. Through the quality chain, the QR code of the relevant goods must be scanned every time the goods are in or out of the warehouse during the circulation of the goods, and each scan is recorded on the blockchain to ensure the traceability of the entire chain. At present, related technologies have been used to trace the origin of Moutai. In terms of trade finance, China's first blockchain trade financial service platform, a domestic letter of credit transmission platform jointly developed by China Minsheng Bank and CITIC Bank, using super-ledger technology. This eliminates the need for China's domestic letter of credit settlement to rely on the SWIFT system to provide information exchange support, and enables an independent, domestically controlled letter of credit transaction system.

NBD: Looking back at 2019, what are the important achievements in the world's blockchain field?

Brian Berendorf: 2019 is a very important year for the blockchain. This year, there has been some decline in the heat of the entire blockchain industry. In the market, there are some doubts about blockchain technology. But for the super ledger, some obvious changes have also taken place on our side. In the past many were some POC (Proof of Concept) or experiments, but now more into the actual deployment link, into the production environment. On the other hand, in the face of some changes in industry applications, we have also done some work and launched training and certification to further popularize our technology.

Before, there may be many questions in society. Should we use blockchain? Is the blockchain good? But after China's national policy was clarified, these problems actually disappeared soon, but instead it became better, more effective, and more helpful, rather than questioning whether to use it.

NBD: What is the value of the integration and development of public and alliance chains?

Brian Berendorf: In the past, everyone thought that the alliance chain and the public chain seemed to have a clear demarcation, because they were originally designed for different purposes. The participants of the alliance chain know each other and know each other. We work together to accomplish one thing because we had trust before. But on the public chain, there is no trust at all, so we use the technology of the public chain.

Now we find that when the alliance chain is getting bigger and bigger, I may not even know you at all, which is similar to the original public chain. So we found that the public chain technology is also helpful to the alliance chain technology. In 2019, we also introduced the first public chain project. We have introduced such technology, and the family tree of the super ledger has become more comprehensive. Now we not only have alliance chain technology, but also public chain technology.

NBD: What are the advantages and disadvantages of China in open source?

Brian Berendorf: When I first came to China, it was in 2002. At that time, everyone knew nothing about open source software. Five years ago, everyone was limited to using open source software. But now, some large companies are actually not only using, but also more participating in the community. For example, they will also contribute projects, including Huawei, BAT, etc. This is a big change.

In another aspect, the Chinese community and the international community still have some obstacles. These obstacles include language obstacles, time zone obstacles, etc. These obstacles have a certain impact on contributors. If we want to develop this community, or integrate into an international community, this requires contributors or these companies to further overcome these difficulties.

NBD: What are the challenges for the next development of blockchain technology?

Brian Berendorf: In the past two years, when the blockchain technology was not too mature, a lot of funds poured in at once, it seemed to be very prosperous, but in fact many problems were hidden, such as ICO. For the hyperledger, we actually want the technology to be methodical.

There are many developers now, and everyone is working on a variety of different chains. You do yours, I do mine, but for the open source community, this is actually spreading the power, which is a current problem. We want to be able to bring all these forces together. We hope that the project can develop in a long-term, stable, and healthy manner. It requires a large number of developers to continue to contribute. This is a great challenge for the super ledger.

NBD: What is the next development plan for the hyperledger?

Bryan Berendorf: The Hyperledger is a community. It is not the same as a business. The enterprise is pursuing growth rate and profit. The goal of the Hyperledger is to enable the community to develop steadily and for a long time. This goal serves.

For example, what are we going to do this year? It does not depend on us, but on the community. We also did some activities. For example, in March we will hold a global forum in Phoenix, Arizona. A forum like this is actually for everyone to discuss and plan what our super ledger community should do in the future.

For our operators, we don't have a detailed plan to say what day will be made, but our overall goal is for the prosperity and development of the community.
