Chainalysis: 28,600,000 USD stolen from exchanges in 2019, and exchange security has improved significantly

In an excerpt from the forthcoming 2020 Crypto Crime Report, data analysis company Chainalysis mentions cases of cryptocurrency hacking in the past. In 2017, four exchanges were hacked, and the total amount of stolen funds reached 86 million US dollars. Although the number of hacked exchanges increased by only 50% in 2018, the amount stolen increased by 10 times, and the total of 6 exchanges was $ 875.5 million. There were 11 attacks on exchanges in 2019, but hackers only stole $ 282.6 million. In addition, only 54% of the hacks observed in 2019 reportedly stole more than $ 10 million. This development shows a significant improvement in exchange security.
