Cryptocurrency exchange LocalBitcoins closes Bitcoin accounts in related countries

Cryptocurrency exchange LocalBitcoins has started to suspend long-term user accounts without prior notice. Users in at least three regions, including Asia, Africa and the Middle East, have noticed that their Bitcoin accounts have been "disabled". Bitcoin users in countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, and Nigeria have received messages from Bitcoin transaction operators telling them that they can withdraw Bitcoins by deleting their accounts. However, some users have stated that they cannot use their funds. An Nigerian source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said his client's account was closed on Monday without receiving any warning or notice of reactivation. According to information seen by LocalBitcoins users, the exchange requires users in specific countries to go through an "enhanced due diligence process." However, no further details were revealed about the details of this process.
