Mercedes to use blockchain to track carbon emissions from cobalt supply chain

According to Cointelegraph, Mercedes-Benz and blockchain startup Circulor are jointly launching a pilot project to track carbon emissions in the cobalt supply chain. According to the press release, the Mercedes and Circulor projects are part of the startup's Autobahn initiative, which aims to identify the next generation of cars. The two companies will deploy blockchain to track the amount of climate-related gas emissions and recycled materials in the complex supply chain of battery manufacturers. Mercedes-Benz ultimately intends to use the data collected during the trial to develop new carbon-neutral passenger cars.
