According to CoinDesk news, on Wednesday, Telegram released a new TON blockchain project white paper detailing the blockchain's block verification process, describing it as a Byzantine fault tolerance protocol Catchain for the PoS network. Since last spring, developers led by TON Labs startups have been experimenting with testnet trials. The white paper states that the protocol was tested on "up to 300 nodes worldwide" in December 2018. The test results show that the TON blockchain can generate new blocks every 4 to 5 seconds as originally planned. According to data released by TON Labs, Catchain is a practical Byzantine fault tolerance algorithm (PBFT), similar in part to the fault tolerance algorithms used by Tendermint (Cosmos), Algorand, Ouroboros, and Casper.
