The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) today announced a settlement with blockchain startup Enigma MPC. The SEC order states that the ENG token is a security, Enigma has not registered its ICO as a security issue under the federal securities laws, and its ICO does not meet the requirements for exemption from registration. The SEC requires Enigma to stop and stop committing acts that may cause any violation of the registration requirements of the federal securities laws. Enigma agreed to a claims process that would return funds to investors who purchased their tokens in an ICO. The company will also register its ENG tokens as securities and submit periodic reports to the SEC. Enigma also agreed to a fine of $ 500,000, but did not acknowledge or deny its findings.
