Bitcoin payment company OpenNode gets Apple Pay permission to support retail payments

Ryan Flowers, head of marketing at Bitcoin payment startup OpenNode, said the company has just been granted access to Apple Pay. The customer's legal payment is converted to Bitcoin (BTC) by OpenNode's partner Wyre and deposited into the merchant's wallet. Merchants can register as part of a private feature version before it is officially released a few months later, and is currently in beta. Both OpenNode and Wyre declined to disclose the name of the Apple Pay account, and the back-end rails, which provide indirect access to the Apple Pay account, also work with most debit cards.
