Media: Swedish central bank's digital currency is still in very early stages

According to recent news from the foreign media, the Swedish central bank (Sveriges Riksbank) 's e-krona pilot project announced on Thursday is the institution's latest attempt on the central bank's digital currency (CBDC). At least for now, e-krona's pilot projects have had limited progress. The R3 Corda-based digital currency trial at the Swedish central bank established by Accenture will run as a simulation until February 2021, at which time the Swedish central bank may extend the project for another six years. The pilot will not involve any banks or end users, and everything will be simulated within the central bank's closed network. According to the Bank of Sweden News Office, Accenture is still preparing the final test system.
