Canada's five major banks use blockchain technology to verify customer identity

According to Bloomberg, on Wednesday, Canadian startup SecureKey announced that its digitally-identified identification system, Verified.Me, is now available to customers in five major Canadian banks. The five banks include Royal Bank of Canada, TD Bank, Imperial Commercial Bank, Scotiabank and Jiading Bank Group. In addition, BMO and National Bank of Canada will soon launch the service. It is reported that the digital verification identification system is based on blockchain technology developed by International Business Machines Corporation and the Linux Foundation, allowing users to securely access banks and other personal services.
