Deputy Secretary-General of SEC: "The Securities Exchange Act" amendment allows the issuance of digital stocks and tokenized securities storage platforms

Tipsuda Thavaramara, deputy secretary-general of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), said that the recent amendments to the Securities Exchange Act allowed the issuance of digital stocks and a tokenized securities storage platform. It mentioned that the "Securities Trading Act" amendment passed the Thai Parliament on February 22, 2019, and came into effect on April 17. This amendment provides opportunities for more market participants and fully supports digital stocks. The revised bill allows for the creation of a tokenized securities escrow platform and allows the issuance of digital stocks in the primary market. Earlier reports that the amendments to the Securities Exchange Act passed by the Thai Parliament regulated the issuance of symbolic securities such as stocks and bonds, which would allow companies to operate as securities and digital token custodians, previously limited to Thailand.
