Malaysian Palm Oil Council uses blockchain technology to achieve traceability of palm oil

The Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) has partnered with BloomBloc to apply blockchain technology to the country's palm oil industry, strengthening its commitment to accountability and traceability. As part of the agreement, the two companies developed a blockchain mobile application and web interface focused on the palm oil industry and tracked the entire supply chain of palm oil. With a smartphone, each tree and related information is uploaded to the system. Most checkpoints are done through a smartphone app and will automatically create an end-to-end digital ledger that provides transparency, accuracy and credibility to stakeholders and end customers. Upon successful completion of the pilot, the application will be used for pilot implementation through user agreements with Malaysian oil palm growers, palm oil processors, plantations and small farmers.
