New Jersey federal prosecutors oppose release request for two crypto scam suspects

According to Cointelegraph, New Jersey federal prosecutor Craig Carpenito is opposing a request by two suspected crypto scammers to be released from jail during new pneumonia. According to court documents filed with the U.S. Department of Justice on March 24, Carpenito said that recent bail reforms have tended to consider pretrial release only if the defendant's appearance in the court can be reasonably guaranteed. However, he emphasized that both Matthew Goettsche and Jobadiah Weeks were charged with implementing a $ 722 million cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme and they had "strong motivations" to escape.
