Bitcoin codebase snapshot will be encoded to film and stored for 1,000 years under Arctic ice

As part of the GitHub Archive project, a snapshot of the Bitcoin code base will be encoded onto film and stored for a thousand years under the Arctic ice in Svalbard, Norway. Its mission is to preserve open source software for future generations to understand today's culture . GitHub has partnered with institutions such as the Software Heritage Foundation, the Arctic World Archives and the University of Oxford's Bodleian Library to ensure long-term code preservation.
