The bitcoin previously seized by the Bulgarian government is currently worth about $1.7 billion.

In May 2017, the Bulgarian government searched for an illegal bitcoin campaign and seized more than 200,000 bitcoins, currently worth about $1.7 billion. With so much bitcoin now, the country is sitting on huge amounts of money and is expected to surpass the UK's gold reserves in the future. It is estimated that the UK's gold reserves are around $13 billion, so it may take some time for Bulgaria to surpass it, but even so, it is clear that the government is now likely to get a larger amount by simply holding tokens. The US government sold its bitcoin for $50 million from 2015 to 2016. The public address of these tokens is not yet known. On May 10, Morgan Creek co-founder Anthony Pompliano said, "I guess at least one large government has already purchased a lot of bitcoin. They will eventually follow."
