Cryptopia owes more than $4 million and has filed for bankruptcy protection

According to Coindesk, Grant Thornton issued a liquidation report showing that Cryptopia, the stolen cryptocurrency exchange in New Zealand, currently owes more than $4 million. It is reported that the exchange owes 69 unsecured creditors more than $2.1 million in debt and the secured creditor’s debt exceeds $1.4 million. In addition, the company owes employees unpaid wages, holiday pay and unsecured debt of nearly $600,000. The report also expects the number of unsecured creditors to increase. Cryptopia has filed for US bankruptcy protection after a $16 million loss from hacking in January.
