Bitcoin researchers propose new relay protocol to reduce Bitcoin node "transaction bandwidth" by 75%

According to Coindesk, Gleb Naumenko, a researcher at the University of British Columbia, and two heavyweight bitcoin developers, Greg Maxwell and Pieter Wuille, proposed a relay protocol called "Erlay." This newly proposed trunking protocol can reduce the "transaction bandwidth" used by Bitcoin nodes by 75%. Researchers believe that an important consequence of this new protocol is that by reducing the bandwidth used by this process, nodes can increase their number of connections to other nodes.
