Deputy Minister of Energy of Iran: Encrypted miners should pay electricity at the same price as the electricity export

On June 10th, Iranian Deputy Minister of Energy Homayoun Haeri said in Tehran last weekend that the encrypted miners should pay the electricity bill at the same price as the electricity export. According to the report, the (Iranian) government pays nearly $1 billion a year in subsidies to fill the huge gap between actual energy costs and consumer spending. Experts say that consumers actually pay only a fraction of the cost and ignore the prudent use of energy, and the government is constantly calling for a reduction in consumption. Although Iran bans trading and mining of cryptocurrencies, Iran’s relatively low electricity costs and the depreciation of the rials have made the temptation to mine and trade cryptocurrencies more intense.
