According to Cointelegraph, recent research by cryptocurrency data and index provider CryptoCompare evaluated the performance of cryptocurrency exchanges as of June 2019. CryptoCompare analyzed data collected between May 1 and May 30 this year, taking into account a number of key factors such as geographic, legal and regulatory assessments, investment, company quality, data availability and market quality, and trade monitoring. The results of the assessment showed that the best performing countries were located in the United States, South Korea and Japan, while the resident digital currency exchanges in Malta did not perform well. CryptoCompare pointed out in the report that trading platforms in more regulated jurisdictions tend to perform better. In the exchange rankings, Coinbase topped the list, followed by Poloniex and Bitstamp, while Coin Security ranked eighth. The report further stated that the market for low-risk investors with a rating of “AA” accounted for only 3% of all reported transactions. All AA-rated exchanges are registered as Money Services Business (MSB) and are issued licenses from money service companies, foreign exchange operators or similar institutions. Only six exchanges received the "AA" level, namely Coinbase, Poloniex, Bitstamp, BitFlyer, Liquid, and itBit.
