Ria Bhutoria The Blockchain Brainiac Behind the Research
Ria Bhutoria The Chief ResearcherMeet Ria Bhutoria: The Crypto Super Sleuth
Have you ever heard of Mrinalini “Ria” Bhutoria? Well, she’s not just any researcher. No, no. She’s the Sherlock Holmes of the crypto world, and she knows it. That’s why one of her public handles is riasearch.eth. You see, this 29-year-old has dedicated her entire career to digging deep into the mysteries of the blockchain.
Before joining Castle Island Ventures, where she’s currently a partner, Ria was an analyst on and off Wall Street. But let’s not bore you with the details of her past. What’s important is that she’s now laser-focused on finding the most promising investments in Web3.
And boy, has she made a name for herself! Ria cemented her reputation as the director of research at Fidelity Digital Assets, the crypto arm of a whopping $4.5 trillion asset manager. Talk about being a pioneer! She was there early on when bitcoin (BTC) was still in its infancy.
But that’s not all. Before her time at Fidelity, Ria was a senior analyst at Circle Research, where she wrote weekly roundups about the state of the industry. And let me tell you, she didn’t shy away from diving deep. She even wrote reports about mind-boggling topics like zero knowledge technology and multi-party computation. Back then, most people didn’t even know what these terms meant. But Ria? Oh, she was already light-years ahead.

Fast forward to today, and Ria is still writing. In fact, just this year she penned an insightful essay aptly titled “Reviving Trust in Crypto.” In it, she dissects the fundamental differences between crypto and traditional finance, aka TradFi. And she doesn’t hold back when discussing what needs to be done to restore the crypto industry’s credibility.
Now, let’s talk about her roots. Ria is a New York City transplant from Kolkata, India. She got her foot in the finance door as an equity research analyst at Credit Suisse after studying finance and economics at New York University’s Stern School of Business. But it wasn’t long before she hopped onto the crypto train, and boy, did she make one heck of a journey.
In 2021, Ria co-founded a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) called Komorebi. They’re on a mission to invest at least $500,000 in female and nonbinary Web3 founders. Isn’t that incredible? Ria’s fighting for inclusivity while making savvy investment decisions. Talk about a true superhero!
“If we return to the core values that united us in the first place, I believe the original vision of crypto can be realized,” Ria passionately wrote in her essay. And you know what? I couldn’t agree more. With brilliant minds like hers leading the charge, there’s no doubt that the crypto world is in good hands.
So, fellow digital asset investors, keep an eye out for Ria Bhutoria. She’s a force to be reckoned with, and she’s just getting started. Who knows what mysteries she’ll uncover next? The crypto world better brace itself, because Ria, the crypto super sleuth, is on the case!
