What is missing in the whole chain game?
What is the missing link in the chain game?Call to Action: What else do we need to quickly create outstanding fully on-chain games? What are we still waiting for?
I am often asked multiple times a week, “Stokarz, what else do we need to drive the development of on-chain games and their widespread adoption in crypto? What part of the infrastructure is still missing?”
I am optimistic about the current landscape of on-chain game infrastructure. On-chain game engine technologies (MUD, Dojo, World Engine, the efforts of Curio, Playmint, and Proof of Play) are advancing, making it easier and easier to create fully on-chain games (but companies are also raising the bar for possibilities). As we focus on more challenging designs, the development time for simple features is decreasing.
I believe you can already create a game that generates over $20 million in revenue using state-of-the-art engine technologies. Moreover, for certain types of games, I believe this has already become possible between March and April of 2023. We just don’t know how to make a profit yet (although the infrastructure is ready, some projects have already proven this, but they haven’t achieved commercial success).

I believe our biggest challenge is designing on-chain games that users are willing to play and pay for.
So, what else do we need? The honest answer is, I have an intuition about what the “best” design is, and I’m happy to see us and other companies experimenting and iterating. However, there is still something missing. We haven’t seen any on-chain games receive widespread attention in the crypto space after “The Dark Forest”.
We need more on-chain games ready for deployment on the mainnet. The longer we stay in the testnet and game testing phases, the longer it takes for scalability and acceleration.
Builders – push your on-chain games to the mainnet. Let users tell us their feedback on the game and its features. Showcase digital physics, permanence, risk gaming, composable design. Let players play together!
What else?
We need a model that combines excellent design, innovative technology, and player interest. Launch it fairly, with a lower initial valuation, just like what happened in the DeFi space in 2019.
In summary, what are we currently lacking?
1. Game design
2. Mainnet release
3. Token model
The sooner we address these issues, the sooner the revenue will flow in, and the research will accelerate.
About the author
Stokarz has always been inclined to engage in activities based on blockchain technology, which started with his early involvement in DeFi and leveraging it on a large scale. He later started exploring NFTs and GameFi. However, he gradually realized that the potential of these projects was somewhat constrained by technological limitations. They primarily focused on financial applications and represented assets through images (such as PFP) or wrapped DeFi (such as GameFi).
Desire for broader possibilities led him to move in a new direction: integrating multiplayer games onto the blockchain. He sees these games as a crucial step towards achieving a larger goal – the ultimate creation of a fully virtual world entirely on the blockchain. Using these multiplayer games as foundational elements, he believes they will pave the way for a revolutionary evolution in the field of blockchain technology.
By exploring multiplayer games on the blockchain, he is venturing into uncharted territory, pushing the boundaries of what is possible within the blockchain space. This progress not only represents his personal journey, but also a broader movement to unleash the full potential of blockchain technology in creating immersive and interactive digital experiences.
