Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission CEO says crypto trading is vital to virtual asset ecosystem.

According to a report by Cointelegraph, Leung Fung-yee, the CEO of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, recently gave a speech about Hong Kong’s attitude towards Web3 regulation after the bankruptcy of FTX in November 2022. She stated that cryptocurrency trading is an important part of the virtual asset ecosystem. In her speech, she explained that the new licensing regime for virtual asset providers will ensure that investors are protected when considering the risks faced by financial institutions. In her view, bringing virtual asset providers into the regulatory system is the only way to embrace innovation and strengthen market confidence after the bankruptcy of FTX.
