Steem forks Hive coming today, but not everyone has an airdrop

Due to dissatisfaction with Steem being acquired and controlled by Tron CEO Sun Yuchen, the Steem community plans to conduct a hard fork and transfer to a new chain Hive.

Steem forks Hive coming today, but not everyone has an airdrop

Vitalik: Steem fork or turning point in blockchain governance

In response to this incident, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin tweeted that this was a turning point in the history of blockchain governance.

"If Hive (forked chain) exceeds Steem (original chain), this will mean that the community is the ruler of the blockchain and no one can buy the community."

But given the history of Ethereum and ETC, it seems that Vitalik is not the best person to comment on the Steem fork. Sun Yuchen replied:

"I'm paying attention to whether ETC exceeds ETH, because this will be a strong proof that the decentralization and immutability of the blockchain is really important."

Forking a word without a word may seem like an abuse of rights, but it actually proves free choice in the blockchain world. What is the future of Steem and Hive? I believe the community and market will give the answer.

Hive launches FAQ

The Hive website is currently online, and the official team has published the Hive online guide on the website.

When will Hive be online?

The Hive blockchain will go live on March 20th (Friday) at 10am EST (March 20th, Beijing time 10pm). Snapshots and airdrops will be conducted in an orderly manner when they go online.

I am a STEEM holder, how do I participate in the Hive airdrop?

All STEEM stakeholders will receive an equal number of HIVEs, which will match the number of STEEM, Steem Power and SBD they currently hold. All other account status data, such as declared accounts, agents, etc., will be mapped to Hive.

For example, if your Steem account has 10 STEEM, 5 SBD, and 1000 SP, your Hive account will have 10 HIVE, 5 HBD, and 1000 HP.

You don't need to do anything, just log in to your current Steem account and you will have HIVE in your wallet and be able to start using this blockchain.

Hive airdrops will only be performed on the current version of the Steem blockchain. Any "emergency hard fork" performed before the airdrop is not eligible. In addition, any exchange that participated in such a hard fork before this airdrop will not be able to participate in this airdrop. How do I get a Hive account to post content and send Hive?

You can log in to the Hive network using your existing Steem account password. The first frontend available will be https://hive.blog. It is currently based on the Steem blockchain, but will switch after Hive goes live. Other commonly used interfaces are completing Hive switching or completing new products, and will be announced to the public when ready.

Who is responsible for the development of Hive?

There are currently more than 30 experienced developers contributing to this new ecosystem, and many community members working on all aspects of Hive. These individuals may announce their participation through their own accounts in the future. This represents the efforts of the community and is therefore open to all. Hive will remain open source and open to everyone who wants to contribute to the future development of the blockchain. The testnet will be released after this article is published, and the full code base will be publicly available before going live.

What improvements have Hive made?

The most important improvements and decisions will be announced after the launch and we hope to get the appropriate feedback from the community. To be successful, there are a number of issues that need to be addressed immediately, including preventing exchanges from conducting governance attacks (as we have seen on the Steem blockchain).

To prevent governance (or funding) attacks, a 30-day delay has been added in providing funding to witnesses and SPS votes. Further governance changes require consultation with the community.

This delay means that there will be a 30-day delay after an account is “authorized” or pledged funds before these funds can be used to govern voting (witnesses). For all other actions, there will be no 30-day delay.

This is our first way to reduce this risk, while improving the system, without having to decide on governance changes before getting input from the wider community. Can all Steem accounts receive HIVE airdrops?

Hive's goal is to continue in the direction of true decentralization, so the airdrop will include all accounts oriented to these common values and goals.

Unable to get Hive airdrops are pre-mined Steemit company accounts, and those that actively promote (and publicly announce support for) Steem blockchain centralization.

These accounts can still opt in to the new chain, but they cannot get airdrops.

We will continue to update Blocking; if you have any questions or suggestions, please contact us!
