Villeroy says France is committed to digital currency innovation. However, he also warned France that it needed to test this new technology in a "serious and methodical" way.
Earlier, French Minister of Economy and Finance Lemer called for a "public digital currency" in the European Parliament. Lemer had previously opposed Facebook's Libra project, saying that France should stop the project if it fails to address its potential threat to monetary policy.

The People's Bank of China said that it has been researching related technologies since 2014 and that DC / EP has been “basically ready”.
