Someone applied for Bitcoin white paper copyright, which CW thinks is good.

A new copyright registration for the Bitcoin White Paper was submitted to the US Copyright Office on May 24th, and this registration conflicted with an application filed by CSW (Craig Wright).

However, CSW said that this is a good thing for him. He says:

"Now we can come up with evidence to see who is the real gold and not afraid of fire!"

On May 21, CW, the self-proclaimed Bitcoin creator, filed a copyright registration for the Bitcoin white paper and the early code base, saying the document was equivalent to the government's “approval” of his so-called qualifications. Later, the US Copyright Office revealed that the application was progressing rapidly and CSW spent about $800 for it.

The second application that appeared a few days later made the problem even more complicated. According to the application record, the person who submitted the registration is named “Wei Liu”. Confirmed by Coindesk, Wei Liu is the CEO of cryptocurrency research firm Coinsummer. He hopes that this will prove that copyright registration is meaningless in this case.

“I submitted this application just to let people know that anyone can register for copyright. Everyone can become Nakamoto.”

Will this affect the copyright registration of CSW?

CSW spokesperson Ed Pownall declined.

"This is what we want to see, because now these two people can stand in front of the judge, and the one lying may face jail time."

It should be noted that the maximum fine for applying for false copyrights is $2,500 and has almost never been executed.

But Pownall's comments are very telling: CSW's copyright statement does not prove that he is the author of the Bitcoin white paper, but allows him to file a lawsuit in court, which will lay the foundation for future infringement lawsuits.

This is in line with the fact that CSW is increasingly accustomed to proving his own people through litigation. As he once said, what he seeks is not to prove by password, but to prove his qualifications in court.

As pointed out in the Cryptographic Law Review, this legal approach is not well received in the online cryptocurrency community dominated by password punk, but in the eyes of institutional investors who are uncomfortable with the legal future of Bitcoin, Make the BSV created by CSW more credible.

The CSW team has issued a statement:

“CSW was frustrated when he saw his original bitcoin design being hacked by Bitcoin Core in 2017 and the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) development team again in 2018, and now he is legally proving himself to be Bitcoin. Creator."

Surprisingly, CSW is not the first to try to acquire the intellectual property of the Bitcoin white paper. Previously, the term "bitcoin" was applied for a "commemorative coin" trademark but was rejected on the grounds that it did not fully capture the essence of the white paper.
